The Ultimate Guide for Game-Changing Products
Everyone is always asking me for my tips and tricks on how to survive the different sports seasons on the sidelines. And, as a "Professional Amazon Shopper" (if I do say so myself), I am also asked what products are must-haves during the special Prime Holidays. So, in honor of Prime Deal Days on October 7-8, I've compiled a list of my favorite Amazon items that have come in clutch for the Sports Mom lifestyle. Just click the link or the photo to be directed to the product on Amazon.
The Best Way to Start the Day
When that 5:00 AM alarm goes off in the morning and I stumble past my bathroom mirror, I often scare myself with my own reflection. While I've used many different under-eye pads, these are THE BEST at making me look refreshed. The different options even help different problems, depending on if my beauty sleep left my eyes puffy, sunken, baggy, or dark. I slap these on and brew a large portable coffee that gets me through the 5:15 practice drop off...and the 5:45...and the 7:00 pick up...and the 7:15 band drop off...
Getting Technical
Now that I've shared my lone beauty hack, let's jump into the real reason you're here--the tech. As the resident crazy sports video mom, I've tried EVERYTHING, and I've settled on a few choice products and apps that work for me.
I must get asked every single game, “What is that thing on the back of your camera?” While I’ve gone through many different versions of this device, I like to use a DSLR-style magnetic grip on my phone to help with ease, comfort, and convenience for recording sports videos. My favorite and most dependable product so far is this ShiftCam attachment. It charges the phone while you record and has tons of magnetic accessories that work with it if you want to get fancy. *Note: If you're going to record using one-hand accessories, I'd also invest in a screen and lens protector for your specific phone. You can also find packs of these on Amazon for under $10.
That being said, I realize not all of us are quite ready to move into live action recording. That’s where this travel tripod comes into play. You can set it up next to you in the stands to record stationary footage or put it on the end of the court or field if you trust your surroundings. Even better, it folds up small so it can be dropped right in your stadium bag.
While this looks like a TV, it’s actually a touch screen monitor so you can easily mirror your phone or play streaming apps that you download directly onto the device. It’s perfect for moving around the house so any room can become your film room.
Home Court Advantage
Winning on the court or field begins with setting up winning conditions at home. These are some items you can snag on Amazon that make the sports life easier on the home front.
We installed an under-cabinet ice maker during our kitchen renovation, and even though it required a water line and electric work it was a luxury upgrade in amenities for our kitchen. I'm certain I will add it to any future kitchen in my life. It keeps a ton of ice available at all times which is perfect for icing sore knees, filling coolers or just keeping your drinks cold.
If you’re not ready to make the jump into home renovation, you can also get this counter sized nugget ice maker. We loved ours at the time, but I will be honest, we went through probably three of these (and multiple smaller, cheaper models), making the price and work of the under-counter machine a better option for us. But this was by far the nicest of the countertop models—just make sure to keep the machine cleaned and well maintained. And be warned—once you start with nugget ice, you won’t be able to stop…
This machine is perfect for spot cleaning on the go, especially if your house is covered in football turf pellets. Lightweight and versatile, it works on all surfaces; carpets, hardwood floors—even beds. 🤮
To keep your home from smelling like a locker room I suggest these really effective oil diffusers that work great and are way cheaper than those expensive ones you've seen on Instagram. I use hotel inspired scents that make my house smell like the Ritz Carlton instead of the inside of a dirty gym bag.
This little device made an entrance in my home during quarantine school and has since become a staple in every room. It’s the best way to wake people for early practices or set reminders so that you don’t have to be on top of your game all the time. The perfect assistant coach.
Game Day Necessities
While I'm a hard-core sideline mom, I understand that depending on the sport or the weather, (or lets be honest, your kid's skill level or interest), sometimes sitting through games can be difficult. These products are meant to ease your comfort on the sidelines, whether that means protecting you from the weather, or keeping necessities or snacks/activities for siblings close by.
The best way to stay cool on the sidelines is with this nifty device. It has oscillating and misting features (and a light!) making it the perfect bleacher companion.
If your stadium allows umbrellas, you definitely want to have a few of these in your bag. Regular umbrellas are fine but these have a black UV layer that truly block out the sun and shield you from the hot rays. It can make a losing game more bearable. This one is also reverse collapsible so you can keep your bag dry when you toss it in after rainy days.
And speaking of your bag, if you stadium allows bags, you definitely want the extra large Bogg brand bag at your side. It’s perfect for keeping all of your fans, snacks, cowbells and umbrellas nearby. You can even get a cooler attachment to keep your bottled water nice and cold. It's easy to wipe clean, and comes in tons of colors and multiple sizes--and they're great courtside, fieldside, poolside...you get the picture.
But odds are, as your kid gets older you’ll likely have rules on what bags you can bring into the stadium—meaning you’ll need a good clear stadium bag or two. I love this one on Amazon because it has combines two of my favorite things: cheap and leopard print. And there are different colors to choose from.
This is another product I’ve gone through many iterations of and this one so far is the winner. They all break eventually, but this one has lasted the longest and has comfortable cushions, armrests, and handy pockets.
For you pee-wee football parents this one is a must have. With one push setup and adjustable legs, these can even be used directly in the stadium bleachers to shield your group from the weather. They’re good to have on hand no matter what, but they’re definitely a lifesaver on those hot summer games. And the rainy-weather games.
If you find yourself on Amazon during the Prime Deal Days, make sure to check out the sale prices on these items. These products have been game-changers for me and mine. Do you have a special life hack for sports moms? Let me know--I'd love to add them to my playbook!
